ODE TO MY LOVE, MY SHERRY

Mom and Jim Downtown Restaurant

I dreamed that we were running, hand in hand,

through the glistening sand, laughing, leaping, loving every moment

amid the tall golden salt grass of the dunes, nary a care,

The morning sun shimmering, amber gold, your lovely hair

we tumbled to the ground, still; the cool summer breeze

caressing your skin, your face so fair, mesmerizing eyes

silk-like skin only matched by the fleeting clouds

in the blue summer skies, as I stare into your crystal blue eyes,

and I lose myself in the beauty of the woman I love so dear,

whose love to lose, my only dreaded fear,

Sherry, whose love brings me joy whenever near,

Together forever and always, we pledged never to part!

Now you’ve gone to God in heaven, I alone, a shattered heart!

I count now the days, the hours, the time, pray with endless tears,

my joy and hope that God reunites us in heavens endless years.
